About the Artist

Founded in 1991, the Cathedral Singers have produced 21 CD recordings under the direction of conductor and composer Richard Proulx. These recordings include the Ars Antiqua Choralis, five exquisite recordings of works from the old masters; Rare Beasts and Unique Adventures I & II; Catholic Latin Classics and five collections of music from the Iona Community in Scotland. Selections from the Singers’ recordings have been featured on the NBC tv drama ER, and all of the chant recording is included in the New Earth video Mount Shasts: Meeting of Heaven and Earth.

Richard Proulx is a prominent liturgical composer in the classical style with over 300 works, including congregational music in each form, sacred and secular choral works, song cycles, two operas, and instrumental and organ music. He was once a member of The Standing Commission on Church Music of the Episcopal Church and a found member of The Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians. He has also conducted choral festivals and workshops all over the world! Proulx has received quite a few prestigious awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Archdiocese of Chicago, New York’s General Theological Seminary, the National Association of Pastoral Musicians among others.
